This year we were delighted to announce our new Barleycorn tweed collection, showcasing stunning open-weave designs in cranberry, blue, lovat and fawn, and thanks to the wonderful response a new beautiful multi-tonal navy.
The design by Brian Lishak is a traditional pattern that is not so commonly found today involving an irregular loom set up. This cloth is lovingly made by a specialist weaver in the heart of Scotland and woven on a historic Hattersley Domestic loom, made by Geo Hattersley of Keighley, the oldest firm of loom-makers in the world.
With fascinating colours to suit everyone and a unique tweed that will look better with every wear, these fabrics are a no-brainer for every Richard Anderson customer’s wardrobe. We have decided to showcase our classic fawn tweed in a brilliant shooting suit. The fawn perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the countryside. Though traditional shooting coats will usually be cut with a pleat in the back to allow the coat to expand when raising your arms to take aim, the plain back looks just as smart for those who prefer a pleatless look. While traditional shooting clothes have faced some competition in recent years from synthetic off-the-rack weatherproof outerwear, only a bespoke coat will accommodate the wearer’s arm movements ideally. Moreover, its seams stand a good chance of outlasting those on any cheaper machine-made, mass produced garment.
