Harris Tweed by The Sea

Harris Tweed by The Sea

On a golden June morning, with the sun dancing on the waves, we took Harris Tweed to the sea.

Our destination: Deal, Kent – a town steeped in maritime history, with its shingle shore and central pier that stretches proudly into the ocean. It was here, against the turquoise water and the geometry of the pier, that we reimagined tweed.

Too often associated solely with the country, this new Harris Tweed with its softer handle has a timeless elegance that belongs anywhere.

We arrived on the coast armed with three brand new bespoke models – a single-breasted overcoat, sports coat notch lapel waistcoat, cut from Holland & Sherry’s woollen Harris Tweed, woven in Scotland.

The colours echo the richness of autumn leaves – russets, deep greens, burnt golds and ember reds. With every glance new shades reveal themselves – a testament to the depth and craftsmanship of the cloth.

Compared to the wiry handle of the traditional tweeds, this latest variation is much less coarse whilst retaining the durability, textures and density of the classic cloth.

In a 15/06oz weight, these new bespoke models have both excellent drape and a clean, sharp silhouette, perfect for both sports coats and overcoats.

This shoot in Deal reminds us that Harris Tweed isn’t just for the highlands or hunting; it’s a fabric for life.
