An artist and teacher from St Albans, Hertfordshire, Fran Anderson studied at Leicester Polytechnic, specialising in Surface Decoration. She has worked as a commercial artist with pieces sold to Liberty’s of London, Next, Marks & Spencer and John Lewis interior fabrics, as well as a fine artist working on commissioned pieces.

“Figuration,” says Anderson, “is the act of forming something into a particular shape. This work is a response recognising the skill involved in the artistry of cutting, and a homage to the respect and understanding of the relationship between cutter and the individual. This is also a personal journey incorporating elements and textures that have been familiar to me for over thirty years. I have always been impressed and fascinated by the world of tailoring and have been fortunate to have journeyed within this world.”
